About Joe
Joseph Markey is a lifelong Lynnfield resident, small business owner, former prosecutor, and public servant who has dedicated his career to improving the community he calls home. A graduate of the Massachusetts School of Law, Markey has built a legal career both as a prosecutor and as an attorney advocating for injured workers and returning millions of dollars in workers’ compensation claims to families who needed it most.
As Chairman of the Lynnfield Housing Authority, he secured funding to expand and modernize affordable housing while maintaining strong financial oversight. He later served as Lynnfield Town Moderator, where he worked to increase transparency and ensure that all voices in the community were heard. Today, as a Civil Service Commissioner, he focuses on fairness and accountability in the public workforce.

Raised in a union household, Markey always understood the importance of a government focused on lifting up working families. As a former varsity hockey coach at Essex Technical High School in Middleton, the husband of a public school teacher and the father of a young daughter, his drive to improve this district is deeply personal. He is running for State Representative to make Massachusetts an affordable place to live, work and raise a family for everyone in Middlesex.
Joe extends his commitment to the community by serving on the Boston Italian Home for Children Anniversary Board and the Chinese Golden Age Home, a 501c3 in Boston. His multifaceted background combined with personal experiences and commitment to public service set him apart as a dedicated and compassionate advocate for our communities.
